Dating and social network site BeautifulPeople.com has axed some 5,000 members following complaints that they had gained weight.

Beautiful People, the dating site only for good looking memebers has reportedly deleted over 5 thousand members since Christmas for putting too much weight on over the festive period. The sites memebers vote on who to accept into their dating network based on looks alone. Some consider this offensive, BP founders claim its in their members interests.

“As a business, we mourn the loss of any member, but the fact remains that our members demand the high standard of beauty be upheld,” said site founder R. Hintze.

“Letting fatties roam the site is a direct threat to our business model and the very concept for which [the site] was founded.”
